Michigan
The Great Lakes State
Michigan is almost surrounded by the Great Lakes & is bordered on two sides by Canada.  The area around Hessel is very lovely.  It is called Les Cheneaux because of its numerous islands and channels.  It is a French word meaning "The Channels".  Sault Sainte Marie is a city 39 miles from Hessel and is the third oldest city in the USA.
Here are some of my photographs of the area around Hessel and some of my favorite links to sites about Michigan, Denmark & Sweden.
This is a replica of Fort Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City.  On this side of the Mackinac Bridge is Lake Michigan and on the other side is Lake Huron.  These two lakes are actually one lake.
This is a picture of Lake Huron taken just to the right of the Mackinac Bridge.  My nephew, Kyle Kmieciak is behind the sign.  The Island directly behind Kyle is Mackinac Island.

The Mackinac Bridge was built in 1957.
